The road to a social Europe

© Médiathèque de la commission européenneUNCCAS has big European ambitions and intends to participate actively in the construction of a Social Europe. As far as UNCCAS is concerned, the setting up of a European network of locally elected representatives is of the utmost importance in the next 5 years. This is why the biennial congress in Metz in 2006 will go hand in hand with the launch of this network with its aim to strengthen the European framework in which UNCCAS plans to organise its actions. UNCCAS also intends to become involved in partnerships and to promote exchanges of experience and good practices in particular with the new member states of the European Union which have great needs in this field.

Moreover, UNCCAS is providing itself with the means to meet its ambitions. The budget adopted by the Board of Directors allocates funds specifically granted to finance European actions. An UNCCAS technical advisor ensures there is a follow up to European social current events, while an outside official representative is concentrating on institutional relations with Brussels and maintains relations at high levels at European level.
